Megan + Justin | Rustic Boho Wedding
In April, I got married! Dare I say, the best part of wedding planning was having free rein over the stationary and design pieces.
I described the theme as “rustic boho” as I wanted it to match the vibe of the venue, Vista West Ranch. The venue embodied rustic bohemian chic with weathered wood, aged tin, and willow sphere lighting. I didn’t have a “wedding color”, so I wanted use a lot of greenery and lean on neutrals to complement that.
The Save the Dates set the tone. Black ink on white paper and heavy with typography. Possibly a design faux pas, I combined every type of font: serif, san serif and script. My favorite part was the simplified map on the back. I wanted to make sure guests understood the proximity of downtown Austin to the venue in Dripping Springs, and this visualized that.
The Invitations played off the aesthetic of the Save the Dates. I decided to use kraft envelopes again but add some additional detail for the main event: 1) the “please deliver to” text and 2) the black return address labels. I absolutely loved the way they turned out!
The key elements carried over to the invitation set, and I continued to love the combination of fonts. The RSVP process was completed on our website, so there was no need for extra envelopes/postage (great money saver!). Lastly, the “Detail” card included COVID precautions as well as a QR code to our wedding website (embracing the comeback of the QR code!).
Here’s a look at the full invitation set including a small insert for our welcome party.
In light of COVID, we also wanted to provide our guests with custom masks. This is where our “logo” came into play. With simple black printing on light gray fabric, these masks fit in with everything else at the wedding.
For the ceremony, I went with tall, skinny programs to outline the ceremony details, wedding party, etc. I did my best to keep them on theme while incorporating all the necessary information.
Moving onto the reception, there were so many fun, DIY elements that I was able to add. The first was the seating chart. I used an old window from my late grandparents’ farm house. It was the perfect tribute to my grandparents and easy enough to simply tape square, detail cards to the glass.
The next DIY element was the table numbers. I design and printed the number cards at home. I bought these simple gray place card holders from Amazon to hold them. And, WA-LA!
Let’s not forget about the food! We actually had a buffet, but I still wanted the guests to know the food choices beforehand. I arranged for long, skinny menus to be placed at each seat on top of the linen napkin.
Lastly, the following were some ad hoc details. A bar menu as well as a small sign for the Bride and Groom custom cocktails. (Mine was an Aperol Spritz!) I also made a DIY guestbook sign using the same place card holders as the table numbers.
I was lucky enough to get work with the following Austin-based wedding vendors:
Photography: You Are My True
Venue: Vista West Ranch
Florist: Petal Pushers
CATering: Royal Fig
